Under the umbrella of Qatar Scholarships Qatar Fund for Development signs two agreements to develop its programs and attract students from developed countries

Qatar Fund for Development signed 2 agreements under the umbrella of Qatar Scholarships with Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and Lusail University, where the two agreements were signed via virtual communication.

On this occasion, Mr. Misfer Al-Shahwani, Deputy Director General of Projects at Qatar Fund for Development, said: “These agreements focus on investing in the existing educational infrastructure in the State of Qatar to achieve the objectives of the State of Qatar in regard to international development. As QFFD is keen in the integration and cooperation with all national institutions, Serving the common goals of us and these institutions.”

Agreement between Qatar Fund for Development and Doha Institute for Graduate Studies

Qatar Fund for Development signed an agreement with Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, as this partnership comes as part of Qatar Scholarship. This agreement aims to attract international students from developing countries to complete their education in one of the postgraduate programs offered by the institute. It is worth noting that this partnership is not the first of its kind. In 2018, QFFD signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute to enhance the academic cooperation and benefit from common capabilities.

In her statement, Ms. Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, the Executive Director of Administration and Finance Division at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI), stated that the signing of the memorandum of cooperation and partnership with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) aims to support and improve academic research, institutional integration and promote sustainable and effective partnerships for the educational and academic sectors.

Al Misnad praised the support represented by QFFD in covering the tuition fees for many international students from developing countries and non-residents of Qatar for a period of five years, to enable them to enroll in the master’s programs, offered by the DI. This step was considered a key factor in contributing to the achievement of a sustainable development goal in the developing countries by supporting education, which is a fundamental human right and essential pillar in building societies and generations.

Agreement between Qatar Fund for Development and Lusail University

Qatar Fund for Development signed an agreement with Lusail University, where this partnership comes as part of the Qatar Scholarships. This agreement aims to cover the tuition costs of a number of international students from developing countries who are not residing in the State of Qatar to enroll in the undergraduate program of Lusail University. This is the first agreement between QFFD and Lusail University.

Through this agreement, Lusail University aims to achieve its vision and strategic objectives by creating opportunities for cultural diversity and multinationalism within the university, and the consequent exchange of experiences and enriching knowledges among students. This is in addition to Lusail University’s belief in its role in spreading knowledge and culture and providing educational opportunities for all groups. Lusail University is also keen to play its role in supporting the vision of the State of Qatar and its interest in educating children and youth in developing countries and extending a helping hand to poor groups and communities.

Qatar Scholarships was created as an initiative of Qatar Fund for Development to oversee and coordinate Qatar’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals specifically in the field of scholarships for students from developing countries. The program is to strengthen the position of the State of Qatar as a major contributor to the development of higher education by providing scholarship opportunities for students from developing countries, thus enabling them to acquire knowledge and contribute to the development of their countries.
